"The Federal Ministry of Education has confirmed that candidates must be at least 16 years old to gain admission in the 2026 session."
Following a policy review, the Federal Government has pegged the minimum admission age for tertiary institutions at 16 years for the 2026/2027 session. Candidates must reach the age of 16 by September 30, 2026, to be eligible for admission. JAMB Registrar, Prof. Is-haq Oloyede, noted that while candidates can sit for the exam at a younger age, institutions are not permitted to admit students below the approved age threshold to ensure maturity in the academic environment.
