Honorary Degree: FG Prohibits Recipients from Using 'Dr' Title, to Sanction Defaulters
"The Federal Government has issued a strict directive prohibiting recipients of honorary doctorate degrees from prefixing their names with the 'Dr' title, warning of severe sanctions."
The Federal Government, through the supervising Ministry of Education and the National Universities Commission (NUC), has reiterated that recipients of honorary doctorate degrees are strictly barred from using the title "Doctor" or "Dr." in official and public correspondence. Defaulters face statutory sanctions.
