JAMB Addresses Verification Backlog for Direct Entry Applicants

To expedite the 2026 admission process, the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has scheduled an urgent meeting with 43 tertiary institutions to address a backlog of 2,638 outstanding verification requests. This verification process is crucial for Direct Entry (DE) applicants who require the validation of their previous academic credentials to proceed.
Federal Polytechnic Nasarawa leads the list with 222 pending cases, closely followed by Kaduna Polytechnic and Isa Mustapha Agwai I Polytechnic. This bottleneck, noted as of mid-March, has become a priority for the Board as it seeks to ensure that the 2026/2027 session commences on schedule. Direct Entry applicants whose verifications are stalled are advised to contact their institutions to ensure their documentation has been forwarded to JAMB. Failure to resolve these issues could hinder the ability of candidates to be considered for admission on the CAPS platform. The Board is committed to clearing these hurdles before the peak of the admission cycle. Students affected by these delays should maintain constant communication with their institution’s admissions office and track their progress through the JAMB e-Facility dashboard. This proactive approach will help in mitigating the stress associated with admission uncertainty.
