JAMB Implements Mandatory 'TEMPL007' Re-Query for NIMC Data Discrepancies

As the 2026 UTME registration enters its final week, the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has introduced a critical technical requirement for candidates who have made changes to their National Identification Number (NIN) profile. The new 'TEMPL007' Re-Query mandate requires any candidate whose data—such as name spelling, date of birth, or state of origin—has been modified at the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) to manually synchronize these changes with the JAMB database at an accredited center. This process is crucial because JAMB's Central Admission Processing System (CAPS) will, for the 2026 cycle, automatically flag and disqualify any candidate whose registration data does not perfectly align with their verified NIMC records. This technical hurdle has severe implications for admission chances. Many candidates often discover too late that a minor mismatch between their JAMB profile and their O-Level results or NIN data prevents their admission from being 'recommended' by the university. In previous years, these mismatches could sometimes be resolved through a lengthy manual correction process after admission offers were made. However, for 2026, JAMB has integrated a real-time 'Validation Lock.' If the TEMPL007 re-query is not performed during the registration window, the candidate's profile remains 'unreconciled,' and CAPS will simply skip over such profiles during the automated selection phases, regardless of how high the candidate's score is. This means a candidate with 340 in UTME could lose their admission spot to someone with 250 simply because the latter's data was verified and synchronized. To navigate this, candidates must visit an accredited CBT center, pay the prescribed synchronization fee, and ensure they receive a 'Data Re-Query Success' slip. This technical diligence is now as important as the exam itself, as it forms the bedrock of a candidate's eligibility within the increasingly automated admission ecosystem of 2026.
