š Overview
The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) is working towards establishing a Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) centre in Ottawa, Canada, with operations expected to commence in 2027.
The proposed centre is expected to make it easier for eligible Nigerians living in Canada and other parts of North America to sit for the UTME without travelling to Nigeria solely to write the examination.
JAMB disclosed the development following a visit by its Registrar, Prof. Segun Aina, to the Nigerian High Commission in Ottawa. īØ1īØ

š³š¬šØš¦ JAMB PLANS UTME CENTRE IN CANADA
According to JAMB, the proposed examination centre will be located in Ottawa, Canada, and is expected to begin operations in 2027.
The centre would provide an additional examination location for eligible Nigerians in Canada and across North America who intend to seek admission into Nigerian universities and other tertiary institutions.
This means eligible candidates in the region would no longer necessarily have to travel to Nigeria solely to participate in the UTME.

š WHO WILL THE OTTAWA CENTRE SERVE?
The proposed centre is intended primarily for eligible Nigerians living in Canada and other parts of North America who want to take the UTME for admission into Nigerian tertiary institutions.

The Board also said the move could create greater opportunities to showcase Nigerian tertiary education internationally. īØ3īØ
