JAMB Clarifies Mandatory Disclosure Policy for Undergraduates Registering for 2026 UTME
"JAMB has debunked rumors of a ban on undergraduate students sitting for the UTME, clarifying that candidates must only disclose their current matriculation status."
The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has addressed viral social media claims suggesting that current undergraduate students are barred from registering for the 2026 UTME. In a statement released on February 6, 2026, JAMB clarified that while undergraduates are free to apply, they must provide a 'mandatory disclosure' of their existing matriculation status during registration. This requirement is intended to prevent multiple admissions for a single candidate, which is illegal under Nigerian law. Candidates who fail to disclose their current enrollment risk the forfeiture of both their existing and new admission slots.
