New Tertiary Institutions Officially Launch in Nigeria Following NUC Accreditation
"The American Open University and the European University of Nigeria have officially commenced operations in February 2026 after receiving NUC approval."
The Nigerian University System (NUS) expanded this month with the official launch of two major private institutions. The American Open University (A-Global) inaugurated its Global Campus in Ibadan on February 9, 2026, offering a distance-learning model aimed at industrial skill integration. Following this, the European University of Nigeria (EUN) was unveiled in Abuja on February 12, 2026, with 23 NUC-approved programs including Cybersecurity, Software Engineering, and Nursing. These launches provide fresh options for candidates currently registering for the 2026/2027 academic session, emphasizing disruptive innovation and global academic partnerships.
