University of Lagos Reports Record-High Applications for 2026/2027 Session
"With over 78,000 applications, the University of Lagos maintains its status as one of Nigeria's most competitive institutions."
The University of Lagos (UNILAG) has reported a staggering 78,240 applications for the 2026/2027 academic session, underscoring the institution's position as a preferred choice for Nigerian students. Following the release of the 2026 JAMB results, thousands of candidates have designated UNILAG as their first-choice university, reflecting its strong academic reputation and proximity to the economic hub of the country. With Lagos State University currently leading in total applicants nationwide, the competition for spots at the University of Lagos remains intense, with the institution expected to uphold a high cut-off mark for most high-demand courses like Medicine, Law, and Engineering.
The university administration has advised prospective students to keep a close watch on the official school website for updates regarding the post-UTME screening exercise. Unlike previous years, the process for the 2026 intake will be strictly digital, utilizing the university’s centralized portal for result uploads and documentation. Candidates who have met the JAMB national cut-off of 150 are reminded that meeting the minimum score does not guarantee admission at UNILAG, as the university will likely implement a higher internal threshold. Students are encouraged to prepare adequately for the upcoming screening tests, as performance in these internal assessments will be a major determinant in the final selection process.
